Jess:

We would like to introduce Christina's husband, Jess Kurian Joymon Mannooparambil.  He is the son of Joymon and Rosamma Mannooparambil.  Joymon is originally from Viakom, Kerala while Rosamma is from Eratupetta, Kerala.  They currently live in New Hyde Park, New York. 

Jess received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from New York University in 2003.  He received his Medical Doctorate (MD) and Masters in Public Health (MPH) with honors at New York Medical College in May 2008.  



WORK EXPERIENCE:
May 2004 to Present
Learn ACLS Inc, New York - BCLS Instructor 
Jess is an American Heart Association certified Basic Cardiac Life Support instructor.  Working with LearnACLS, he is involved in teaching the BCLS course to employees at Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital; Lenox Hill Hospital; as well as other organizations requiring CPR instruction.  In addition, Jess also teaches the BCLS course to all members at the New Hyde Park Fire Department as part of his commitment to the training committee.

Boy Scouts of America, New York - Merit Badg Counselor
Jess is the First Aid Merit Badge counselor for the Boy Scouts Troop 99, located in Scarsdale, NY.  During the all day Merit Badge seminars, he conducts a broad First Aid Seminar for scouts attaining their First Aid Merit Badge.

Surgery Club, New York - President
The Surgery Club at New York Medical College is a club which exposes medical students to the various aspects of surgery by way of lectures and hands on activities.  During his first year of medical school, Jess was an active member and the following year, he served as president.  The responsibilities were to organize suture clinics, laparoscopic surgery simulator sessions and mentored first year medical students. Jess also coordinated with various surgical department chiefs for lectures and talks.

Emergency Medicine Club, New York - Officer
The Emergency Medicine Club at New York Medical College is a club which exposes medical students to the various aspects of emergency medicine by way of lectures and hands on activities.  During his first year of medical school, Jess was an active member and then served as an officer.  His role was to help coordinate various activities throughout the year, including recruiting students as medical volunteers for the New York City Marathon.

South Asian Medical Student's Association, New York - Vice President
The South Asian Student's Association (SAMSA), is a club at New York Medical College which promotes awareness of the South Asian Culture.  Jess organized various events including the largest cultural show at New York Medical College, Indian movie nights and dinners, as well as residency panels and community service projects branching outside the state of New York.

Jess led campus tours to potential students interviewing at the medical school.  In addition to giving a tour, Jess would also field any questions which the students had in mind.

South Asian Marrow Association of Recruiters, New York - Chairman of Student Networking
South Asian Marrow Association of Recruiters (SAMAR) is an organization which focuses on raising awareness on the importance of being a bone marrow donor amongst the South Asian population.  Jess has organized and conducted numerous bone marrow recruitment drives all across the country and initiated the process of forming the network of recruiters at various university campuses so that the recruits may continue the mission of SAMAR at their respective universities.

Bellevue Hospital, New York - Emergency Room Research Volunteer
During this volunteer experience, Jess was staffed within the emergency room at Bellevue Hospital.  His primary responsibility was to enroll patients being seen in the emergency room into any number of ongoing research studies if they met the criteria for inclusion.  In addition, Jess was able to shadow emergency room physicians while they were seeing patients.

New Hyde Park Fire Department, New York - Second Lieutenant
Jess had initially joined the New Hyde Park Fire Department to gain some experience as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic.  However, since joining, Jess had advanced his certification level to become an Emergency Medical Technician - Critical Care.  Jess had also completed all the requirements to become a Class A Interior Structural Firefighter and currently serve in this capacity as well as an EMT-CC.  In addition, Jess had served the role as Chief Driver and currently serves as the second lieutenant for his fire company.

May 2000 to Present
Iota Nu Delta Fraternity, New York - President
Iota Nu Delta is the first South Asian based fraternity in the nation dedicated to promoting and advancing the cultural diversity found on college campuses. Jess served as president for two years and was in charge of leading national conventions and inter-chapter community service projects.
